Directing

As a director, I'm particularly interested in developing new work. Equally at home working with actors and writers, I love being able to puzzle over dramaturgy and experiment with what makes effective storytelling. My favorite rehearsal rooms prioritize ensemble building, physical exploration, rigorous text work (not just at the table!) and collective care.

In addition to directing at Yale and at the Shakespeare Academy at Stratford, I've assisted on projects at Symphony Space, Roundabout, and Bay Street Theater. A full directing resume is available upon request.

Onward and Upward
a new musical by Charlie Romano and Will Wegner

Photos by Alex Contreras-Montesano / Yale College Arts

In 1982, Walter Griffin made headlines after tying a lawnchair to a cluster of balloons and flying 16,000 feet into the sky. Nearly two decades later, his wife and son have kept him tethered to the practicalities of daily life – until a surreal visit from his idol, wirewalker Philippe Petit, blurs the line between reality and fantasy.

Rebecca directed a developmental workshop of Onward and Upward at Yale, which culminated in a concert production.
